Benchmarks were down sharply on Friday, following a tumble in global markets on inflation fears and ahead of May’s U.S. CPI data. In late morning trading, the BSE Sensex fell more than 850 points to 54,461, while the NSE Nifty 50 lost 200 points to hover around 16,250. SmallCap were also in negative territory, down to 0.9%.
